Four things we check first.
- 01
The signer’s ID
A current government-issued photo ID. If it is expired or missing, tell us before we travel.
- 02
Awareness and willingness
The signer must understand what they are signing and sign of their own free will. The notary speaks with the signer directly and will not notarize if the signer seems confused, heavily sedated or pressured.
- 03
The facility’s rules
Visiting hours, infection control and permissions are set by the facility. Confirm a visit is allowed; we do not have arrangements with every facility.
- 04
Witnesses
Some documents, such as healthcare directives and wills, may need witnesses, and some facilities do not let staff act as witnesses. Ask whoever prepared the document how many it needs.

Open around the clock, without promises we cannot keep.
We are open 24 hours, 7 days a week and try to reach urgent bedside requests quickly. Timing depends on notary availability, distance and the facility, so we cannot guarantee a same-day visit or access to every facility.
Hospital and nursing home visits are available in the Kansas City metro in Missouri and Kansas. Outside the metro, remote online notary may work when the signer can use a device and the document allows it.
Hospital and nursing home questions.
Can you come today?
Often, when a notary is available and the facility allows the visit. Call or text 816-442-0295 with the facility, the documents and the signer’s condition, and we will tell you the earliest time we can reach you. We cannot promise a same-day visit.
The patient’s ID is expired or at home. What now?
Tell us before we travel. The signer has to be identified to the standard state law requires, and we will tell you what can be used before the visit.
What if the patient cannot write their name?
Tell us when you call. Depending on state law, a signer who cannot write may be able to sign by mark with witnesses. We confirm what applies before we travel.
Can a family member sign for the patient?
Only someone with legal authority to sign for them, such as an agent under a power of attorney that covers the document. We notarize the signature of the person who signs; we cannot decide who has authority.
